Southwest Airlines has been our # 1 choice for flying since the first time I boarded their plane in 1987! They have created and maintained a culture of excellence and profitability that no one in the industry has matched.
There are so many choices for travel today. In my world when a person accepts the invitation and is hired to deliver a speech for an important group in a distance place, we check for Southwest first. Safety, service, schedule options, and efficiency are how I think of them. No wonder they have been profitable every year!
Early in my career, I was a safety engineer for a transportation company. So I know great safety procedures when I see it. Did you know many of their pilots are former military fighter pilots, and that is the best training in the world.
Great service is legendary at Southwest Airlines, and it is only more apparent when recently I had to fly a different airline and the passengers were treated so poorly. The complaining and grumbling were deafening, and they were more than 1 hour late departing and late arriving.
Most of the time Southwest Airlines departs on time and arrives early. In the last 15 years that I have been keeping track, our flights on Southwest Airlines were late only twice, both caused by weather. One time we had to wait for a storm to pass before we could safely take off, and the other time we had to take a detour to safely fly around a bad storm. Bad weather if always understandable and forgivable.
Southwest makes the effort to treat everyone well, and I really appreciate how they treat our military, the elderly and their families.
In my lifetime I have traveled by bicycle, motorcycle, car, bus, boat, train and plane. I have seen the good, the bad and the indifferent. Southwest Airlines does it right, and they have earned my loyalty and respect.
